School Objective
One of
the most frequently asked questions by parents is what are my objectives and teaching philosophy when planning a program for
young children. My answer is to create a warm friendly environment for preschoolers to socialize and learn through play.
I do not believe in an overly structured program for young children.
At an early
age, basically the most important skills they should be learning are listening, speaking, gross motor and fine motor skills.
These exercises are introduced through free play, story time, singing, musical instruments, arts & crafts, cooking, tactile
projects, gym mornings for the your year old class, and show & tell.
The reasons
I feel these skills are so important are because when they leave me to go into kindergarten, where they will be learning to
read and write; they will have already developed their listening and speaking skills through preschool. In my opinion,
a child should not be forced to perform academically before they have mentally developed. Learning is fun in an atmosphere
that is not overly restricted in the preschool setting.
